About Don Bosco
Don Bosco, also known as Saint John Bosco, was an Italian Roman Catholic priest, educator, and writer of the 19th century. Born in 1815 in Castelnuovo d’Asti, he dedicated his life to the welfare and education of disadvantaged youth. Recognizing the dire conditions of young people during the Industrial Revolution, he founded the Salesian Society to provide them with education, vocational training, and spiritual guidance. His innovative approach combined kindness, reason, and religion, creating a nurturing environment that encouraged holistic development. Don Bosco’s legacy continues to thrive globally through the Salesian mission, which remains committed to empowering young people, especially those from impoverished backgrounds, with education and life skills, embodying his vision of “good Christians and honest citizens.
About Don Bosco Ashalayam
Don Bosco Ashalayam is a non-governmental organization inspired by the values of Saint John Bosco, dedicated to serving vulnerable and marginalized children. Established to provide a safe haven for street children and those at risk, Ashalayam offers a nurturing environment where young people receive comprehensive care, education, and vocational training. The organization’s holistic approach ensures that every child is given the opportunity to realize their full potential, fostering a sense of dignity and hope. Through its various programs and initiatives, Don Bosco Ashalayam strives to transform lives, helping children to build a brighter and more secure future.
Who we are
Don Bosco Ashalayam a part of the global network of the Salesians of Don Bosco, is a New Delhi, Palam based, Non-Governmental, Non-Profitable, Non-Political, Social & Charitable Organization. It is registered under Societies Registration Act, 1860. It is a licensed children’s home (A Home of Hope) for children: In need of Care and Protection (Street Children, Orphans, Homeless, Abandoned, Unaccompanied, Neglected, Missing/Run Away, Lost & Found, Children found begging, Trafficked children, Child Labourer, Marginalized Youth etc.)pt

Empower the young at risk to be agents of personal and social transformation through a participatory approach. Provide a positive environment that will prevent exploitation and neglect. Child Care Institution
Don Bosco Ashalayam CCI (Child Care Institution) provides shelter, education, and care to vulnerable children. It currently has a total capacity to accommodate 120 children. The institution focuses on holistic development, including social, emotional, and educational support, to help children lead better lives and integrate into society.
Aftercare
Don Bosco Ashalayam runs an After Care project for children who are above 18 years of age. This project provides continued support to help these young adults transition to independent living. It includes vocational training, higher education opportunities, and job placement assistance. Additionally, the project offers life skills training, counseling, and financial support to ensure these young adults can build a stable and self-sufficient future. The aim is to empower them with the necessary skills and resources to thrive in society.
Past Pupils
The Past Pupils Project of Don Bosco Ashalayam supports former residents who are now well-settled in their lives, with some even having their own families. This initiative maintains a network of alumni, offering continued guidance, mentorship, and support. It fosters a sense of community and connection, encouraging past pupils to contribute to the institution and share their success stories, thus inspiring current residents. The project helps in creating a lifelong bond and provides a platform for mutual support and growth.
